MyCredit Investments Limited, the holding company of FairMoney Microfinance Bank, has fully repaid its ₦5.86 billion Series 6 Commercial Paper, which matured on 18 September 2026, The Condia reported.
What is commercial paper?
Commercial paper is a short-term, unsecured loan to a company. Investors buy it at a discount and receive the full face value when it matures. The Series 6 note was issued on 23 December 2025, ran for 269 days and carried a discount rate of 19.48%. It was issued under FairMoney’s ₦10 billion programme on the FMDQ Securities Exchange.
A growing track record
- June 2023: debut ₦2.5 billion Series 1 at a 16% yield, oversubscribed by institutional investors
- November 2024: ₦1.44 billion Series 3
- March 2025: ₦4.47 billion Series 5
- September 2026: ₦5.86 billion Series 6 repaid in full
“Meeting our commitments to investors is fundamental to how we build and sustain trust,” said Henry Obiekea, managing director of FairMoney Nigeria.
Why it matters
Digital lenders need a steady supply of cash to fund loans. Borrowing from the debt market alongside customer deposits gives FairMoney more options, and repaying on time makes it easier to raise money again. The repayment came weeks after FairMoney said it had passed 30 million registered users in Nigeria. FairMoney is a CBN-licensed microfinance bank, and eligible deposits are insured by the NDIC up to the applicable limit.
