How we reviewed this phone: WebBuild Tech has not tested the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 ourselves. This review brings together the published specifications and the findings of GSMArena’s full hands-on review, which included lab tests of the battery, display and cameras. Opinions below are attributed to that testing. Prices and availability in Nigeria vary, so check with authorised retailers.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is the new wider member of Samsung’s Fold family, sitting alongside the Z Fold8 Ultra. Released on 22 July 2026, it has passport-like proportions, a 7.6-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED inner screen with a 4:3 shape, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and IP48 protection, and weighs 201g.
Quick verdict
GSMArena thinks this form factor will suit more people than the traditional productivity-focused Fold. The wide cover screen is pleasant for typing, reading and social media, and the 4:3 inner screen is excellent for books, comics, games and multitasking. The big drawbacks are the price and a camera setup without a telephoto lens.

Specifications from GSMArena’s Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 spec sheet. Some features vary by market.
What reviewers liked
- Distinctive, compact and versatile foldable design
- Premium construction, relatively low weight and IP48 protection
- Excellent bright 120Hz LTPO AMOLED displays
- Flagship-grade everyday performance
- Feature-rich One UI 9 with excellent multitasking and seven major OS upgrades
- All-day battery life and improved 45W charging
- DeX and USB video output
What could be better
- Very expensive
- No dedicated telephoto camera; main camera hardware is unimpressive for the price
- Heavy throttling and noticeable heat under long loads
- Average speaker loudness and weak stereo separation when unfolded
Battery and charging
Battery life should comfortably cover a full day. Charging is now 45W, reaching 63% in 30 minutes in testing, though Samsung remains behind some rivals in outright speed.
Alternatives to consider
The main alternative is Samsung’s own Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, which has a more traditional shape and fuller camera setup.
Who should buy it
Ideal if you read, watch video or multitask a lot and want a foldable that is also comfortable to use closed. Photographers who need zoom should look at the Fold8 Ultra or a conventional flagship.
