Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ review: slim, feature-packed and around $200

How we reviewed this phone: WebBuild Tech has not tested the Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ ourselves. This review brings together the published specifications and the findings of GSMArena’s full hands-on review, which included lab tests of the battery, display and cameras. Opinions below are attributed to that testing. Prices and availability in Nigeria vary, so check with authorised retailers.

The Tecno Spark 40 Pro+, released on 7 July 2025, is a very thin (6.5mm) and light (160g) budget phone. It has a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED screen, MediaTek’s Helio G200 chip, a 5,200mAh battery, 45W wired and 30W wireless charging, and IP64 protection with drop resistance up to 1.5m.

GSMArena says it costs around $200.

Quick verdict

GSMArena calls it “one of the most feature-packed and thoughtfully equipped sub-$200 phones around”. The AMOLED display is one of the best in its price bracket, the cameras are surprisingly capable, and it has NFC, an IR blaster, stereo speakers and wireless charging. Battery life is underwhelming for its capacity, and the reviewers flagged Tecno’s software support as the biggest weakness.

About software updates

Alternatives to consider

GSMArena suggests the Samsung Galaxy A26, Redmi Note 14 4G, Motorola G96 and vivo iQOO Z10R. It also compares it with the nearly identical Infinix Hot 60 Pro+.

Who should buy it

Great value if you want a slim phone with a premium-feeling screen and features like NFC and wireless charging on a tight budget, and you don’t plan to keep it for many years.
